About

I am an author. My most recent book is The Menopause Companion: A Beginner’s Guide To Owning Your Transition From Peri To Post (June 2023). I also have a Substack called I Text Myself, where I write about the ever-evolving stories we tell about ourselves and the moments and experiences in life (like menopause) that prompt us to rearrange our ideas about who we are and why.

My professional life makes for a fun laundry list to trot out at parties–barista, project manager, cheesemonger, podcaster, shopkeeper, author (The Cheesemaker’s Apprentice and The Guide to West Coast Cheese), restaurant manager, human resources assistant, and copywriter. It also netted a deep well of experience with the ripple effects of life transitions.

As a result, I am intimately familiar with the trap of believing that life would be going better if I could just be different somehow, maybe smarter, taller, cooler, funnier, quieter, more confident, or better at math. It's the very thing that I cannot stop thinking and writing about, even though I've been settled in Portland, Oregon, with my husband and menagerie of pets for the past few years.
